:: What is the Council of Europe Information Office
The Council of Europe Information Office (CEIO) is established in Albania according to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Republic of Albania and the Council of Europe, in June 2003.
The Council of Europe Information Offices (CEIO-s) are set up as institutions of the Council of Europe, according to the resolution (99)9 adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 28 July 1999 at the 677bis meeting of the Ministers' Deputies aiming to reinforce the previous Information and Documentation Centers.
:: The statute and the main tasks
Dissemination of information on the Council of Europe, its activities and standards
Helping individuals, NGOs or political institutions to contact the Council of Europe or to get information on its activities;
Contributing and supporting the implementation of co-operation programmes and other Council of Europe projects in the host countries;
Facilitating the co-operation of the Council of Europe with other international organisations active in similar fields in their own countries;
Translating, publishing and disseminating Council of Europe texts and other pertinent documents of particular interest, and preparing new publications;
Helping to implement the information strategy of the Council of Europe, in particular vis-à-vis professional circles concerned with the work and activities of the Council of Europe and the media;
Organising seminars, round tables, conferences and interviews with representatives from the press and state bodies, etc. on the Council of Europe’s activities,
Arranging and/or contributing to exhibitions on the theme of relations between Albania and the Council of Europe and European identity in general,
Helping to organise Council of Europe campaign activities at national level (European Years, “Europe at School” competition, European Heritage Days, International Human Rights Day, etc),
Helping to promote the Council of Europe through the media (both the print media and the broadcast media) in the form of press conferences, translation and distribution of press releases, regular contributions to newspapers and radio programmes, etc,
Establishing contacts and partnerships with prominent bodies and figures in civil society working in the fields of democracy, the rule of law and human rights;
Provide information about the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)
